Welcome to SONshine Preschool

The curriculum is built around thematic units, with learning activities planned around the theme.  We use a curriculum that integrates Christian values, Bible stories and thematic ideas.  Our program includes basic phonics readiness and math readiness.

Activities that look like play to an adult are filled with learning value for the young child who learns through hands-on, play-based instruction.  

Following are some examples of this process:

• Blocks: math concepts, spatial relationships, balance, creativity, cooperation;

• Manipulatives: fine muscle skills, eye-hand coordination, shape and color discrimination;

• Dramatic play: imagination, social skills, role play;

• Music and movement: rhythm, auditory discrimination, large muscle skills and development, poetic language, following directions;

• Science: curiosity, exploration, appreciation of nature, cause and effect;

• Art: creative expression, sense of accomplishment, fine-muscle skill, eye hand coordination;

• Story time: vocabulary, listening, comprehension, reading readiness, concept development;
